Guineapig119: Just got an e-mail from WordPress about how well this blog did. I quit it last June, I thought it would be terrible. Turns out it did amazing. Oh the irony!

Well, i’ll keep this short. I’m leaving this blog. I’ll leave it up and everything, and keep my account, and I’ll still respond to comments and stuff, but I’m not going to post any new posts. I just don’t have time to post, and I don’t have much to post about, I play a lot less video games now.. It was fun while it lasted, though, I won’t forget it. Thanks to the people who visited, my site is still 4th under google image searches for Giygas (the bad guy in Earthbound, which someday I shall play!!).

Sorry I didn’t write a Christmas or New Year post. This post will have to do. Alright, now that I’ve got the holiday stuff out of the way, on to the site. I really need to add a header (I think that’s what it’s called). I got a Mac last year, and I haven’t quite figured out how to edit pictures on it. All the edits I did back in the day were on a PC. Mac is still better. Anyways, I’m adding a “Quote Of The Week” to the sidebar, and updating the sidebar a bit.

Review of The Beatles’ Remastered CDs

Yes, I know I’m more than 2 months late to post the review near the release, but I thought I could still review the albums. For those of you who didn’t know, remastered CDs of all 14 of The Beatles’ studio CDs came out on 9/9/09 (same day as Beatles Rock Band). The Beatles are my favorite band, I knew all the words to Yellow Submarine when I was 2. Here’s a review of all of them, in order of release.

Please Please Me: B Released in 1963. Even way back then, The Beatles were great. They wrote 8 of the 14 tracks, and played there own instruments. Still, that doesn’t save some tracks from being dull, and all sounding pretty similar. By no means bad, just not their best.
Highlights: I Saw Her Standing There, Twist and Shout, Please Please Me

With The Beatles: B/B+ On the fence about this one. Has some great songs, but also has some really unmemorable songs.
Highlights: All My Loving, Till There Was You, Roll Over Beethoven

A Hard Day’s Night: A- All the songs included in the movie are great, but most of the ones that weren’t in it, but still are on on the album, aren’t. Can’t Buy Me Love may be my favorite Beatles song.
Highlights: A Hard Day’s Night, Can’t Buy Me Love, If I Fell

Beatles For Sale: A- Originally, this was my least favorite Beatles album, but when I listened to it more, my opinion changed. I really like some of the songs, but there aren’t a ton of songs that really pop out at you as great.
Highlights: I’m A Loser, Eight Days A Week, No Reply

Help!: A- Good album. I would say the same things about the songs not included in the movie, but “Yesterday” convinced me to shut up. All the songs in the movie were great, though.
Highlights: Help, Ticket To Ride, Yesterday

Rubber Soul: A+ This album really marks the Beatles changing style. “Nowhere Man” is the first Beatles song not about love. Rubber Soul has more mature lyrics, and is by far their best album up to its release.
Highlights: Nowhere Man, Norwegian Wood, Think For Yourself

Revolver: A+ Revolver is the best album of all time. Every single song is great. Well written, well performed songs. Absolutely brilliant.
Highlights: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band: A+ Amazing, but not Revolver. Has great songs, but c an dwell on too weird. Still, one of their best. The album does well trying what it was aimed to do, which was to “put the album on tour”. It starts out introducing the Lonely Hearts Club Band, and ends with them introducing the final song, A Day In The Life, which is really the masterpiece of the album.
Highlights: A Day In The Life, Sgt. Pepper’s/With A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

Magical Mystery Tour: A I feel really bad giving this album an A andgiving others lower.Without the Beatles recent singles included, this album would be more like a B. But they nicluded all of the Beatles recent singles, all of which were great. Thus, improving the album a ton.
Highlights: Strawberry Feilds Forever, Penny Lane, All You Need Is Love

The Beatles (The White Album): B+/A- The White Album is good (for a Beatles album), but not great. It’s essentially a taste of what all the Beatles would do on there solo albums. Unfortunately, that doesn’t necessarily mean there good solo albums. There are some great songs, but there are also some bad or dull ones. Revolution 1 isn’t as good as the single version of the song, I Will is beautiful, but WAAAAY too short. Savoy Truffle and Why Don’t We Do It In The Road are boring and Revolution 9 is absolutely horrible and is a complete waste of time. There are also some great ones. While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a great song, Helter Skelter is early heavy metal, Blackbird is a beautiful song, same with Julia. Finally, Happiness Is A Warm Gun is awesome, my favorite on the album. There are sweet and sour tastes, but the final song, Good Night, is like the ultimate palate cleanser, leaving you satisfied with The White Album.
Highlights: Happiness Is A Warm Gun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Blackbird

Abbey Road: A+ Abbey Road was the penultimate Beatles album, but was actually recorded last. It is also an amazing album. The first real half of the album consists of great songs, including Come Together, Something and Here Comes The Sun. The second half (No, I’m not referring to the record’s front and back, which I own, but the spiritual half’s.) consists of two medleys, The Abbey Road medley and the Golden Slumbers medley. The songs in it are all separate, but flow together perfectly. It breathes life into Abbey Road, leaving Abbey Road as one of the Beatles’ best.
Highlights: Here Comes The Sun, Something, Come Together

Let It Be: A- Bottom Line: Let It Be has some great songs. The Beatles final album was produced by Phil Spector, using live tapes. Unfortunately, Paul McCartney wasn’t overseeing it very much, causing his song “The Long And Winding Road” to be way overdone, replacing the heartfelt piano with soaring strings. On the other hand, For You Blue is improved, making the guitar louder and a bigger part of the songs. Let It Be is beautiful, I Me Mine is boring. Across The Universe is great, Dig A pony kinda sucks. Get Back is probably the best on the album, but One After 909 (a song written by the Beatles years before Let It Be) should have remained virtually unrecorded.
Highlights: Let It Be, Get Back, Across The Universe.

Past Masters, Vol. 1: B- A collection of ther Beatles’ singles. Unfortunately, most of there early singles were weak. Sure, She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, I Feel Fine and I’m Down are great, but did we really need the german version of She Loves You?
Highlights: She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, I’m Down

Past Masters Vol. 2: A+ Sure, most of their early singles were forgetable, but their later singles greatly improved. Filled with great songs.
Highlights: Hey Jude, Paperback Writer, Revolution

Well, that was my review. Before anybody yells at me for calling Beatles songs bad, I’m grading the albums by how it stands against every album ever, but the songs by other Beatles songs. That means that almost all of the ones I criticized are still great, and better than most popular songs.

29 Years Today Since John Lennon (Of The Beatles) Death!

Well, today (December 8th) marks the 29th anniversary of John Lennon’s assassination.

For those of you who don’t know who he is, he was one of The Beatles. For those of you who don’t know who The Beatles are, is that rock you’re living under comfortable?? Anyways, at 11 o’clock at night, John Lennon was shot by David Chapman (Chapman was insane, by the way.). John Lennon was a cool guy, and will always be remembered.
